Ballantyne

Located in the southern tip of Mecklenburg County, the community known as Ballantyne used to be a vast hunting preserve owned by the Harris and Bissell families. In the 90’s the Harris brothers (grandsons of former North Carolina Governor Cameron Morrison) partnered with their brother-in-law Smoky Bissell to develop what is now known as Ballantyne.
The epitome of work-live-play, Ballantyne is known for its vast estates and country club living. “Luxury” and “upscale” are both words that come to mind when you think of the community, from the five star Ballantyne Resort and Spa, corporate office parks to the multi-million dollar residential neighborhood of Ballantyne Country Club .

As part of Mecklenburg County, Ballantyne’s students attend Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. The local public schools include Ballantyne Elementary School, Community House Middle School, and Ardrey Kell High School.
